Job Context/Purpose
The purpose of the job is to work with the team responsible for development, and integration of control systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) as an Engineer.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Define control system requirements and specifications based on project objectives.
- Perform Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) Simulations of UAV.
- Perform Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) Simulations of UAV.
- Generate and integrate dynamic mathematical models of various aircraft components for the simulation.
- Perform control system loop design, analysis and tests.
- Perform Control System Tuning of various systems and subsystems as per requirement.
- Conduct control system testing, troubleshooting, and verification to ensure compliance with performance, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in UAV avionics systems, emerging technologies, and industry trends through research and continuous learning.
- Coordinate with the aircraft design team for capturing inputs and outputs to achieve desired goals.
- Help the Flight team in making adjustments for safe and optimum flights.
- Take regular inputs from other teams to achieve common goals.
- Coordinate and manage project schedules, deliverables, and resources to ensure timely completion of milestones.
- Provide technical guidance and support to project teams, ensuring adherence to best practices, design standards, and quality assurance processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Avionics, Instrumentation or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of control system design principles, including flight control systems, navigation systems, communication systems, and sensors.
- Good scientific background to understand and model components.
- Experience with control system modeling and simulation tools, such as MATLAB/Simulink or LabVIEW.
- Familiarity with Flight Controllers.
- Familiarity with HIL and SIL simulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to think analytically.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in avionics system design and documentation.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Leadership abilities and experience in guiding and mentoring junior engineers.
- Adaptability and flexibility to work in a fast-paced and evolving UAV development environment.
- Simulation tools like Simulink, etc.
- Familiarity with UAV-specific components and systems, such as control surface actuators, electric propulsion units, etc.
