Associate Engineer – Mechanical Design

Job Context/Purpose

As a Mechanical Engineer, your role involves creating mechanical components using CAD software, conducting tests to validate designs, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. This position demands creativity, technical expertise, and good knowledge in aerospace, electrical, software, systems, materials science, control systems, manufacturing, and reliability engineering disciplines to create innovative, high-performance UAVs in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Team responsibilities

  • Design mechanical components and systems for UAVs, including airframes, propulsion systems, and payload integration.
  • Should have strong hold on hand calculations.
  • Utilize CAD software to create detailed 3D models and engineering drawings.
  • Conduct structural and thermal analyses to ensure UAV reliability and performance.
  • Develop and build prototypes for new UAV designs.
  • Perform ground and flight tests to validate design concepts and performance.
  • Analyze test data and iterate on designs to improve UAV functionality and durability.
  • Work closely with electrical, propulsion and aerodynamics engineers to integrate various UAV systems.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback on team members' work.
  • Communicate effectively with project managers and clients to ensure project requirements are met

 

Technical Documentation

  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive design documentation, including specifications, test reports, and manuals.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant industry standards and regulations.

 

Educational Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field. Master’s degree is a plus.

Experience required for the role (Also specify type/industry if necessary)

3+ years’ experience in product and machine designing.

Technical competencies required for the Role

Proficient in structural analysis, CAD modeling, and thermal systems  design for aerospace components.

Behavioral competencies required for the role

Demonstrates strong problem-solving acumen, accountability, and cross-disciplinary collaboration in high-stakes environments.

Skills / Specific tool knowledge required for the role

Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks,  ANSYS and exposure to PLM systems
