UAV Electrical Engineer

Job Context/Purpose

The UAV Electrical Engineer will be responsible for electrical assemblies of UAVs based on the electrical wiring diagrams, followed by conducting QC checks with respective team members and maintaining proper assembly QC checklists and handover forms. The engineer shall also maintain inventory of all the electrical consumable and non-consumable components, create UAV assembly plans.

Key Responsibilities

Electrical Wiring & Schematics: Create detailed wiring diagrams for all subsystems with proper wire markings and documentation.
System Understanding: Understand avionics, propulsion, and other UAV systems, including their interconnections and communication protocols.
Test Jig Development: Design test jigs for performance evaluation of electrical hardware and switchgear.
Power Layouts: Draft power transmission layouts based on inputs from cross-functional teams.
Firmware Integration: Collaborate with firmware engineers to integrate low-level software, device drivers, and system-level firmware with embedded hardware.
Testing & Validation: Develop test plans and conduct lab and field testing, including performance, environmental, and compliance checks, ensuring reliability and safety.
Documentation & Support: Prepare detailed documentation and test reports; provide technical support to internal teams, manufacturing partners, and customers.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with software, avionics, mechanical, and design teams; communicate progress and challenges clearly.
Quality Checks: Perform incoming and outgoing quality inspections with complete documentation.


Skills Required

• Experience working on electrical systems for UAV platforms.
• Strong understanding of digital and analog circuit design for UAV applications.
• Experience with schematic capture tools such as SolidWorks Electrical, AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar.
• Knowledge of microcontroller/microprocessor architectures and relevant interfaces.
• Familiarity with UAV communication protocols (UAVCAN, MAVLink).
• Proficiency with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters) for debugging and validation.
• Understanding of DFM/DFT principles for UAV hardware.
• Knowledge of EMI/EMC certification standards for UAV systems.
• Familiarity with simulation tools (LTspice, Simulink).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with high attention to detail.
 

Educational Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering, Electrical &  Electronics Engineering or a related field.
